PROJECT BENEFITS

Creating Value for Seneca County
It will provide income for participating landowners and provide $57 million in PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) revenues to be shared among schools, townships, the county and the state over the life of the project. Because the project is privately funded, no cost to the community will result, including those necessary for upgrades or repairs to infrastructure.

Environmental Benefits
Seneca Wind will provide enough clean energy to power almost 60,000 homes each year. Reputable research organizations have found that wind turbines are champions in the reduction of CO2. A report by the National Renewable Energy Lab found that by increasing wind and solar power generation to 35 percent, fuel costs would be reduced by 40 percent and carbon emissions would be reduced by 25 percent. The Project is anticipated to offset approximately 598,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year. This is equivalent to:
Greenhouse gas emissions from
128,242
Passenger vehicles driven for one year
1,467,867,709

208,672
